Your home isn’t meant to be a showroom of perfection; it’s meant to be a sanctuary for relaxation and rejuvenation. Curate your home with things that bring you joy and serenity. Display meaningful momentos and decor that evoke your happy place: maybe these are family photos or simply a bowl of bright navel oranges. Fill rooms with scents that you find calming & peaceful, like an ocean-breeze candle or freshly-baked banana bread. 

A clean and organized home can help reduce stress and anxiety. When it comes to cleaning and decluttering, focus on one thing at a time. Don’t dedicate an entire weekend to completing all your household chores (has this ever worked?). Instead, break up larger projects – like cleaning out the pantry or reorganizing your hall closet – into smaller, more manageable tasks that you only spend one or two hours on at a time. That way you won’t feel overwhelmed or over-stressed. 

Turn your bathroom into a zen-den. A few candles around the brim of the tub or on small shelves will transform your bathroom into a luxury spa experience in seconds. Add a few drops of essential oils (try lavender, chamomile, and jasmine) to your bath. Don’t forget to turn on some relaxing meditation music – or whatever sounds that calm your soul. And treat yourself to luxurious, spa-like towels…your skin will thank you. 

Make your bed daily and change your sheets regularly. This may seem like an obvious tip, but really think about it: There’s nothing quite like getting into a perfectly turned down bed with soft, freshly washed sheets. You spend about one-third of your life sleeping, so go ahead and splurge a little bit on bedding that’ll help you get the rest you deserve. Go for the softest sheets you can find and a weighted blanket to help ease nighttime anxiety.
